Apply and pay for a tattooists, piercing and electrolysis registration licence.

Eligibility criteria

You must provide specific information, including details of your premises and any previous convictions for practising without a licence in this field.

Before you start

You must be licensed by the local authority if you carry out:

  • tattooing
  • semi-permanent skin colouring
  • cosmetic piercing
  • acupuncture
  • electrolysis 

If you work from premises, they must also be licensed.

What happens next?

Your application will be processed.

If you don't hear from us within a reasonable period phone 0141 577 4684.

If your application is refused

If your licence is refused you can appeal to the Sheriff by writing to Paisley Sheriff Court.

The appeal must be made within 28 days of the refusal.
